Background Info
History:Deidara is one of the members of Akatsuki we see in the later manga. Although Deidara has a feminine appearance, he is definitely male, and his voice is more masculine and low in the anime. Deidara is first seen in the anime as a mysterious figure before the 3 year time skip. In the manga, we see a more clear version when he and his partner, Sasori, or Sasori-danna (Master Sasori), head to the village Hidden in the Sand (Sunagakure) to capture Gaara.
Deidara uses a technique with the two mouths on his hands. He uses clay from his bag, feeds it into his mouth on his hand and adds in chakra to make a bomb that explodes without the uses of explosive tags. Deidara usually chooses birds but is seen using spiders when he took out the sky patrol. Deidara used his masterpiece (no. 18) when he fought Gaara and threatened to blow up the village. Deidara was ordered to capture Gaara and take him back to the Akatsuki to extract his Bijuu (Shukaku). Deidara won, capturing Gaara, though Deidara's arm is lost in the process thanks to Gaara's Sand Coffin.
Deidara was later seen fighting Kakashi and Naruto after Gaara was killed. Deidara often flies on one of his clay birds to put distance between him and his opponent since he uses long range battle. Deidara lost part of right his arm when Kakashi used his Mangekyou Sharingan and put it into another dimension. Deidara managed to throw Naruto and the others off his trail by creating an explosion out of himself, but he buried himself under the ground and survived.
Deidara did lose one arm for good thanks to Kakashi but was able to revive his hand from Gaara's attack. Tobi finds it first and suspects Deidara had died too. Deidara appeared and gave Tobi a piece of his mind for that.
Since Sasori, Deidara's partner, was destroyed, Tobi was able to join Akatsuki as Deidara's new partner.
Deidara is very involved with his art as he often argues with Sasori about what true art is; Deidara claims art is a fleeting image of beauty. Deidara also often ends his sentences with "un" ("hmm...") or in the English version subtitled as a "yeah". His physical appearance also consists of a tracker or scope over his eye that's covered by a lock of hair on the left side of his face. He's an S-class criminal from The Village Hidden in the Stone/Rock (Iwagakure). Although we aren't sure what his crimes were, according to rumors it seems he joined Akatsuki after Orochimaru left.
When all the Akatsuki are positioned on the huge statue on the fingers, sucking Gaara's Bijuu out, Deidara's position on the statue is the right index finger. His ring means Blue-ish Green (Sei).
Deidara first appears in the anime as a shadowy figure at the end of Episode 135. He is the one that is showing only one eye and looking as if he is upside down. He tells the other shadowy figures that they would kill Orochimaru eventually.
Personality:Deidara is an artist. It's the center of his personality, especially to him. He lives for his art, he plans to die for his art. He thrills in the sound of the explosion, the bright colors and the heat, the screams of the dying... Well, he never claimed to be perfectly sane. He believes that art is a bang--a fleeting moment of beauty, something that changes, things that don't last. He does not believe in eternity, which was the cause of many an art argument with Sasori.
Deidara's emotions reflect his art--he is given to explosive bursts of passion and anger. His default face is a smirk, his default mood cheerful, but it can be a facade to cover up fear or doubt. When his anger bursts through, though, his mood quickly elevates to furious, and he is prone to rash decisions. Under normal circumstances he can analyze a situation quickly and accurately, due to ninja training, and adapt to many different situations. He does not easily show that he cares about someone--it's given begrudgingly at times, but he finds genuine affection more difficult. With those he cares about he may use playful mockery, or even be downright abusive, but he does protect them in his own way, and will aid them if needed.
As a ninja criminal he does not trust easily, although he may pretend to if it suits his need. He trusts only those who have proven themselves, and even then it is generally not complete trust--there are very few he'd allow himself to really sleep near.
Deidara's personality is a bit broken. He is a man of contradictions, one who denies eternity because his own art took away those he cared about, one who seeks stability in instability, and certainly one who is more than slightly off-center. He carries himself with an air of confidence and immaturity because the alternative would be revealing all the cracks and weaknesses in him, and that would get him killed. He doesn't dwell on things, especially things that would hurt him more, so he can keep smiling.

Ninja Information
Weapons:Deidara's explosive clay, which he makes himself, is his main weapon, and his deadliest. He's always carrying some with him and makes more regularly. Aside from this, Deidara has standard shinobi weaponry: kunai and shuriken, of which he has about thirty of each on hand. If he uses one of these, he favors the kunai, but he does not often use these weapons, preferring his art. Deidara also carries a few explosive tags which can be tied to kunai and work similarly to explosive clay, except less powerfully. He doesn't use them often.head.
Combat Description:Deidara is a ninja. Specifically, he's an S-class nuke-nin criminal--among the best of the worst, as it were. He's also sort of insane--and this does act as a strength. He has no issue with blood and violence: he enjoys it, in fact. He likes to show off and he likes to get a reaction out of his audience (and his canvas, so to speak). He'll be more than willing to participate in the fighting, the bloodier the better. He also has a very high pain tolerance, as shown in canon when he had an arm torn off and barely flinched. Deidara is training his left eye to resist genjutsu (illusions). With this eye he should be able to see through some illusions, although he does not yet have the skill to see through very powerful ones. He also knows all standard ninja jutsu: water walking, wall walking, clay bunshin (clones), and the like. He has excellent chakra control.
Deidara's main weapon is art: he uses explosive clay in battle. The mouths in his hand can quickly create sculptures (usually insects and birds, though he may use other animals as well), which he will then animate and detonate. Because the sculptures can move on their own much like the animals they're based on, and home in on the enemy besides that, he can use them for long distance attacks--he's a long range fighter. He has five levels of chakra that he could use in battle:
C1 - The basic level of chakra he uses. His production rate of sculptures increases in both quantity and speed. He still uses the smaller sculptures at this level--spiders and birds, mostly.
C2 - The second level of chakra. His speed increases quite a bit, and the C2 dragon, his favorite attack, becomes available. He creates a massive dragon out of clay that spits out smaller versions of itself using the clay in its tail. He can use this in combination with special landmine spheres the dragon can also create to box his opponent in--he can use bombs thrown from the air to herd the unlucky opponent onto the landmines.
C3 - The third level of chakra. Deidara can create his most powerful large-scale attack (not counting the last one, which is a bit special)--his specialty #18 jutsu. He creates a sculpture and places the C3 chakra into it. When he detonates this sculpture, it releases an explosive charge capable of levelling a village.
C4 - The fourth level of chakra, and the highest level Deidara can attain normally. At this level he has his most deadly attack, the Kibaku Nendo, developed to kill Itachi, but capable of use on anyone else. He will consume his clay using his real mouth and then vomit it up as a gigantic Deidara sculpture. It explodes into a cloud of microscopic clay bombs, which, when breathed in, travel through the body and detonate, causing the body to disintegrate on a cellular level.
C5 - His highest level of chakra, it has only one use: Deidara will put a massive amount of clay into the mouth on his chest, all of his chakra will gather there, and he will self-destruct. The explosion covers a ten-kilometer radius. He wouldn't use it except in last resort, and certainly wouldn't bother using it in a tournament where people will be revived, but it is an option.
Deidara can also create a clay bird he uses to fly on in the same way he creates his other sculptures. It moves exactly like an actual bird, though Deidara controls it, and is very fast and acrobatic. Deidara usually fights atop one of those to maintain distance between himself and his foes.
